Canadians Prepare to Experience “Ice Wine Dessert"

Mercer’s Dairy of upstate New York, USA will begin distributing in Canada through the Chanel Desserts Nutri-Pro Corporation of Pierrefonds, Quebec - Ice Wine Dessert/Dessert Au Vin Glace, a relatively new wine ice cream that is taking the world by storm…ice cream storm that is.

Made in the USA and with 15% butterfat and 5% alcohol, “Ice Wine Dessert/Dessert Au Vin Glace” was created and unveiled in 2007 by Mercer’s Dairy’s Partner and Marketing Director, Roxaina Hurlburt. “Ice Wine Dessert/Dessert Au Vin Glace” became a ‘twinkle in her mother’s eye’ at food and wine events that the company was attending at the time.

The story goes that Mercer’s Dairy was touring with the Wine & Grape Foundation. After the events the workers would refresh themselves with samples of their products. Roxaina offered to share her ice cream and the folks from the Wine & Grape Foundation offered to pour their exquisite wines over the ice cream.

So tantalized by this combination, Roxaina just had to create a premium wine and ice cream dessert that delivered an experience of momentarily living in royalty. Roxaina worked together with the Wine & Grape Foundation to create spectacular pairings in the flavors of this new prestigious wine ice cream. This truly was a challenge, since normally freezing kills the potency of alcohol and alcohol curdles cream.

But after a couple of years of perfecting the formula, “Ice Wine Dessert/Dessert Au Vin Glace”, an exotic, festive and memorable dessert treat for adults was born. “Ice Wine Dessert/Dessert Au Vin Glace”, also known as Le Mélange Ultime, comes in six flavors to live or die for: Cherry Merlot, Chocolate Cabernet, Peach White Zinfandel, Port, Red Raspberry Chardonnay and Riesling.

This year, “Ice Wine Dessert/Dessert Au Vin Glace” will have the opportunity to show itself off at the SIAL Canada, May 9-11 in Montreal. SIAL Canada is the Salon International de l’Alimentation (International Food Expo). The show is one of the industry’s most important meeting places for North America, hosting 700 exhibitors and 13,000 visitors from 60 countries. SIAL Canada will be held at the Palais des congrès de Montréal from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday and till 4:00 p.m. on Friday. “Ice Wine Dessert/Dessert Au Vin Glace” will be displayed at Booth #2939.
